Hello from the other site

Good day,
I'm Yves Torres

I'm a creative technologist, based in Switzerland. I specialize in Fullstack Web Engineering and digital consulting.

I have a proven track record of delivering high-quality digital products and services for a wide range of clients and industries.

Services

I craft digital products, code state of the art websites, develop API's and provide consulting for SMEs, brands and start-ups with interesting ideas and projects.

Back to the future

If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything – with a wee bit of luck.

Memory lane

I founded MASSIF Web Studio in April of 2012 after leaving my previous gig as lead developer/co-owner at a successful local web development agency. I wanted to focus on crafting digital products and services that push myself and the boundaries of what is possible forward.

Since then I've been lucky enough to be able to work with some amazing clients and partners, building everything from websites and web applications to e-commerce platforms and custom software solutions.

With over two hundred projects under my belt, I've learned a lot about what works and what doesn't. Do you have a project you'd like to discuss? Let's talk!

Experience
Unlike the Spice Girls, I think that if you want my future, you shouldn't forget about my past. Those experiences made me the developer I am today.

In private life

I'm a tech enthusiast and a bit of a geek. I play badminton twice a week and go to the gym every other day. During Summer I can often be found outdoors, going on hikes, or reading a book in the park. I despise being cold, so come Winter, I usually hole up and spend way too much time binge watching the latest films and TV shows, drawing, painting or playing video games (if rarely nowadays).

Making of

Building this website wasn't as easy as it may look at first glance. While not a big website by any means, it took more than six months to build – mainly because I taught myself a bunch of new tools in the process.

I learnt React and Next JS, Next Intl for internationalization (or i18n, like the cool kids say), TypeScript, React Three Fiber and Three JS, Blender and a host of other tools and packages, not to mention writing the content, translating it, with over 40 testimonials and over 60 featured projects.

Though already knowledgeable in JS, learning TypeScript (while quite tough) was fundamental in deepening my understanding of this amazing programming language.

More importantly, I wouldn't have been able to build this website without the use of a few existing assets, some offered for free, by some truly generous and highly talented folks.

Kudos to you! Ye shall be known as my personal Guardians of the Galaxy.
